GeoTek inaugurates its expansion project and creates more jobs – ABC 6 News

(ABC 6 News) – An exciting morning for Stewartville-based company GeoTek as it inaugurated its newest expansion.

The GeoTek building adds an additional 30,000 square feet. The national company opened its Stewartville factory in 2020 and, after just two years, outgrew its space and had to expand.

While this is a big issue for the company, it also has a major impact on the community.

“The city has been an excellent partner with us. We have vaults here and economic development committees so they work with us and we are able to provide additional jobs and business to bring to the area is really a great partnership between all of us,” said the GeoTek’s vice president of human resources, Mollie Forstener.

As one of the fastest growing cities in Southeast Minnesota, the expansion is expected to create 100 new jobs in the area.

“Stewartville is definitely a great place and they’re doing great things as a community, as a city,” said Brian Parlin, who has lived in Stewartville for 15 years. “I’m happy to hear that GeoTek is growing and more things to come.”

In partnership with Rochester construction company AB Systems Inc., the expansion will expand the business and take up most of the north parking lot.

AB Systems is happy to give back to the community.

“We are excited to be part of Stewartville’s expansion and to add more jobs to the community, and only to the greater Olmsted area,” said Dexter Kemmett, AB Systems Business Developer.

The construction company is also looking to expand its workforce to staff expansion construction. AB Systems is to hire ten field builders as well as office staff.

Construction is expected to be completed in May 2023.
