In 2017, as she neared retirement from the Appleton Area School District, Janz said she came across a free E-Seed course, now called Innovative Acceleration Programs, for Fox veterans. Valley Technical Venture Center.

“(As an Army veteran) I was able to participate in the program in June, where I was able to develop my business skills, develop a business plan and connect with amazing entrepreneurs,” said she declared.

With the support of her family and the behind-the-scenes help of her daughter, Amanda Dotson, Janz said she was able to launch Pink Fusion Spices, Inc. at the Downtown Appleton Farm Market in June 2018.

Pink Fusion Spices has since expanded – settling into Broadway Farmers’ Market in Green Bay two years ago and, most recently, De Pere Farmers’ Market.

Although pink has always been Janz’s favorite color, the premise behind the name has more to do with the use of pink Himalayan salt.

“When I started using only pink Himalayan salt in my home, I realized it was important to also use pink Himalayan salt in spice blends,” she said. “Natural salts combined with organic spices, the name, Pink Fusion Spices, seemed natural.”

The company offers spice blends, smoked salts, flavored salts and individual spices, all natural and organic.

Janz said Pink Fusion Spices offers 67 different spices in different sizes.

“In addition to Himalayan Pink Salt, some of our most popular spices are Sugar Free Seasoning Salt, Guacamole Seasoning, Sizzling Steak, Rosemary Garlic, Seafood Butters, Cajun seasoning, lime salt, Vietnamese cinnamon, smoked paprika and sumac berry powder,” she says.

Janz said Pink Fusion is also offering a few new offerings this year, including Simply (with or without salt), Herbes de Provence, French Onion Dip and Curry Seasoning, with more to come this year. summer.

She said part of what fuels her passion for Pink Fusion is the benefits Himalayan pink salt provides.

“In my experience and one of the reasons I like this salt is because I have experienced how it helps regulate the water content in your body, so you don’t have also thirsty or swollen from eating too much salt,” she said. “To add to these benefits, we do not use anti-caking agents or fillers. All preparations are free of gluten and nut allergens. All of the spices we use are organic and we make small batches, so people get fresh, flavorful spices. »

As a woman-owned and veteran-owned business, Janz said the interaction she has with customers at farmers’ markets is invaluable — not just for promoting her product, but for her peace of mind. spirit.

“I love meeting new people,” she said. “I like talking with my clients, they are really great. I also enjoy meeting any special needs they might have.

The market community is one she said she was honored to be a part of.

“I love connecting with other vendors and seeing what they have and how they got started,” she said. “The people running the markets and their assistants are always so nice and helpful. It’s a great community of people.
